Helen Duplassie

I have been a member of Beaux Arts Brampton since 2006 where I wrote the newsletter for several years. Following that, I worked on the board as the Director of Administration where I was instrumental in the success of the Beaux Arts Mural Project which was funded by the City of Brampton.

I am also a member of The North Brampton Watercolour Society, Visual Arts Brampton’s Portrait Group, and Southern Ontario Visual Artists.

I have won awards for two of paintings and have been accepted into a number of juried shows.

I have always loved to draw. As a teenager I drew pencil portraits of family and friends. That led to my love of painting in oil, acrylic, watercolour and dye on silk.

I want to convey to others the way I see our world. It can be something microscopic or huge and powerful. When I see something that touches me, I want to recreate that beauty  or emotion. It can be intricate in detail or beautiful in its simplicity. I hope that it will touch my viewers in some way.

Mainly a realist, landscape artist, I also enjoy doing portraits and still life. I paint because I love it.
